The Lady Mustangs take care of Evangel early with a 60 point victory! Mikayla Roach shows perfect form for the perfect storm!
Lady Mustangs v Seneca - 64-58 Victory!
Lady Mustangs fight a tough battle and come from 9 points down in the 3rd quarter to beat the Lady Red Hawks. Nicole Bryant has 26 point and Amanda Mattern comes alive in the fourth quarter and adds 12 points! Good heart and hustle in this victory!
JV Lady Mustangs v Seneca 48-22 WIN!
NOHS JV Lady Mustangs completely outplay the JV Seneca Red Hawks. Megan Welle scores 20 and provides defensive intensity to take the victory!

NOHS Lady Mustangs Team Trip: Food, Fun and Basketball
A fun filled 30 hours that felt like 3 days to the "Mom's". The team left NOHS parking lot at 4:00pm on Friday with a travel assignment provided by Coach Grimm, which pitted each vehicle against each other in a friendly "riddle" competition. After some diverse direction paths taken by each car, we made it to Glasgow, KY Pizza Hut at 5:20 local time. The Lady Mustangs took over the back room and were ready to eat some pizza!
Coach Grimm's riddle: How many large pan pizzas should be ordered for 15 NOHS Lady Mustangs?
With guidance from the Pizza Hut waitress, she thought 4 large pizza's would do it… Well, when those pizza's arrived, the team ate first in which there was "1 slice" of pepperoni left after the feeding frenzy by the team, so the mom's had to wait. Ordered 3 more large pizza's and had a small amount left, so Coach Grimm you need at least 6 large pizzas to feed the NOHS Lady Mustangs!
Then we continued our adventure through the hills, past the farms, said "hi" to the cows and arrived in Austin, KY at the lake about 7:30 local time and settled in. Sleeping assignments were drawn and each girl found their spot for the night. The Coach Grimm riddle challenge was won by Mrs. Mattern's vehicle. The team played some corn hole, basketball shooting arcade and a full team game of Apples-to-Apples. Of course, needed more food to eat… At the house, we had cut apples, some wonderful Wonka chocolate, Nerds rope (a crowd favorite) and hot chocolate! The evening snack was tortilla chips with cheese dip that caused another feeding frenzy ;) …
The evening started to slow down and the team watched a movie in the family room with a toasty fire that Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Mattern, got started on the first try (yea, right, that's our story and we're sticking to it!). The house settled down and got very quiet as everyone went to sleep some time Saturday am, but we'll never tell and you weren't really sure "what" time it was! It was a nice cold, clear night and the stars in the night sky looked amazing.
As the sun rose, the house came to life as the team started to awake to the smell of pancakes and French toast being prepared.

Short order cooks Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Moore had the griddles going, cranking out pancakes and French Toast as quickly as they could. Mrs. Mattern had the serving and cleaning duty as the girls ate in shifts. The team's head coach, Coach Martin, ventured through the cold morning and arrived at the house in her 'reindeer truck' while the team was eating breakfast. Of course, she joined them for some pancakes! The team ate a whole box of pancake mix and the majority of a loaf of bread in French toast (so here's your riddle answer Coach Grimm)!
The team played several rounds of charades, in which Coach Martin lost a dollar bet with Nicole Bryant as she underestimated their ability in charades! After cleanup from breakfast, the team got ready for the day, in which we took a small walk in the crisp late morning through the trees to see the lake.
Pictures were taken at the lake, in which we quickly realized it was quite chilly outside and ventured back to the house for more hot chocolate! We took some group pictures at the house, packed up and ventured on to Bowling Green, KY.
As we passed Scottsville and into Bowling Green, the car train followed Coach Martin through some back roads, that I'm sure there's no GPS program that would take you through that route! Thank goodness she knows where she's going! The team arrived on campus and "took-over" the WKU Bookstore. So the girls did, what girls are born to do, they did some shopping, but Coach Martin won the prize for the most bought! They were turning the lights out as she was checking out… she claims they're Christmas presents, but we're still not to tell Coach Billy Martin, hmmm… We found the campus food court opened so the team ate lunch on campus and enjoyed Chick-fil-A or other items for lunch.
The team left their shopping in the vehicles and took the short walk to Diddle Arena on campus. As the team approached the doors, Coach Martin was greeted by the WKU Lady Toppers coaching staff which allowed the team to enter via the "back-door" entrance. The team walked through the offices of the Lady Toppers Coaching Staff and stopped to talk to Lady Toppers Head Coach Cowles. She greeted Coach Martin and welcomed the team to WKU. The team found their seats and settled in for the game.
WKU played Western Carolina and was in control of the game with a bit of ease (unlike the U of L men's team as the Western Carolina team played in Freedom Hall). During the game, with every 3-ptr made, the cheerleaders would throw t-shirts to the crowd, in which the team got to catch several! Big Red made many visits to our section and spent quite a bit of time teasing our team and the middle school team that sat behind us. The team and Mrs. Mattern were on the big screen showing their adventurous side during timeouts. Based on their lack of shyness, a few Lady Mustangs were selected for the half-time events. Lucy, Meghan Welle, Taylor and Justine were chosen to participate.
Lucy and Meghan played a musical chairs event, in which, when the music stopped, the player needed to dribble to the basket, make a shot and get back to the remaining chairs. Through speed and skill, Lucy ended up as the remaining participate in the chair and received a $100 gift certificate for Ashley Furniture (maybe something for the Locker Room?!?).
Lucy and Meghan made every basket on their first attempt and Coach Martin was quite proud that her girls did not miss a layup on the WKU floor! Next up was a cooler race with Taylor riding and Justine driving, where the team had to race their cooler down the court, turn around and race back. Well, it's harder to drive a cooler than it looks! Justine and Taylor sort of took the diagonal path across the court, in which Taylor's face as she rode, had a worried look that she would get another "shiner" to match the one she's got! They made the turn and started back, but the other team was a bit smaller and their cooler drove a bit straighter, in which we finished a close second. Justine may need those driving lessons when she turns 16! The team loved to call Coach Martin "Mom" as they went to the concession stand and enjoyed the looks people gave them!
The game ended with a big win for the Lady Toppers and the time had come to start the venture home. The group separated from Coach Martin as she provided guidance to us on how to get back to Louisville, as she needed to do some "more" shopping (don't tell Coach Billy Martin…).
Coach Martin called to inform the team Coach Cowles gave a shout-out to Nancy Martin and the North Oldham Lady Mustangs on her post-game call-in show! We found a Wendy's with a gas station next door that allowed the team to get a small bite to eat and fill up the vehicles with fuel, for the trip home. The trip home was good with no additional stops courtesy of a KY State Trooper. We arrived at NOHS parking lot at 10:00pm.
A special thank you to Mrs. Mattern and Mrs. Moore in joining me as the drivers & mom's to the team. We drove the girls around and waited on them, but warned them that this was not "normal" Mom behavior! The girls were such a pleasure to have and the event was extremely fun. A special thanks to Mr. Roach who donated hot chocolate with marshmallows, mugs, and candy. Things fell into place nicely, in which we ate very economically, so you'll be able to see "how" much money your daughter brought home!
We hope your daughter enjoyed the event and has a NOHS Lady Mustang school memory they will treasure.

Lady Mustangs Rock the NEW House!
Are you kidding me!!! 83-26 Win over Waggener. Five girls in double figures, 30+ team assists. Lady Mustangs are out of the starting gate! Nice work!
